ARTS Carnot Institute

who we are

The ARTS Carnot Institute, led by the Arts et Métiers ParisTech engineering school and its promotional arm Arts, brings together 24 research laboratories, through a strong partnership with 12 organisations (CNRS, CNAM, CEA Valduc, ECL, ENCI, HEI, IPB and the Universities: UB, UB1, UPVM, USTL and UVHC).

Heavily involved in the transport, health and energy sectors, the ARTS Carnot institute is organised in 3 major research areas:

  • Mechanics, materials and industrial processes
  • Fluids and energy systems
  • Design, industrialisation, risk, decision support

Research and innovation activities

  • Laboratories and research teams, made up of researcher-teachers and high-profile researchers, are seeking research partnerships to respond to the needs of businesses.
  • With extensive experimentation and data processing facilities, the teams are renowned for the quality of their research and innovation. Their expertise is based on the latest technological and scientific information, supported by high quality research upstream.
  • Ongoing collaborative projects with businesses involving, where appropriate, masters or PhD students, place the ARTS Carnot Institute as a key player in scientific development able to meet the technological challenges that businesses face.

Management and promotion of research

Under the scientific supervision of research teams, contractual partner relationships are negotiated and managed by the Arts promotional arm. This one-stop shop, which is ISO 9001 certified and an accredited research body benefiting from tax credits, guarantees access to the top skills available at the ARTS Carnot Institute under excellent contractual conditions in the mutual interest of partners.

Businesses, and especially SMEs, can benefit from legal and administrative support to access public sector funding.

The Arts promotional arm helps give research laboratories a high profile. The promotion of R&D activities leads to business creation and patent filing.
