Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Ljubljana

Teaching, research and professional work in various laboratories dealing with renewable energy at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, is focused on the development of technologies for energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources in buildings, district heating / cooling (DHC), HVAC technologies and heat transfer.

The main areas of research work are the research of heat transfer and optimization of the operation of various heating/cooling/HVAC systems, development of numeric models and modelling of the thermal environment of buildings. New and interdisciplinary knowledge is developed and achieved through international projects in the framework of the IEE and collaboration with international partners (e.g. IEA, RHC, ECES, IIR, COGEN).

• Preparation of buildings for energy performance certification and related measurements
• Computer aided design and development of software for heating and cooling with solar and environmental energy
• Preparation of local / municipal energy concepts
• Development of RES technologies
• Education (renewable energy, building physics, energy resources management, heat transfer)
